Xiaomi surpasses Apple in Europe due to Impressive Growth

According to the Quarter 1 2021 Smartphone Insight by Canalys, Xiaomi has surpassed Apple in terms of market share in the European battlefield. The Chinese smartphone brand has now come in second place in Europe, behind Samsung.

In addition, Xiaomi now has 23 percent of the European region compared to Apple’s 19 percent, as reported by the Android Authority. The company saw an impressive 85 percent annual growth in Europe compared to Apple’s 22 percent.

It is also important to note that the Chinese company is a new entrant in Europe, while Apple maintained its presence in the region for more than a decade. However, product offerings by the two companies also differ, with Xiaomi offering on budget phones and its Cupertino rivals focusing on the premium smartphone segment.

However, Apple still ranks second in Western Europe, accounting for 25 percent market share, compared to Xiaomi’s 17 percent. Therefore, most of the increase in Xiaomi’s market share can be attributed to Eastern Europe.

However, Europe is a major market for smartphones and the event is a significant win for the Chinese brand.

In addition, it is also necessary to examine how other smartphone brands in the region are performing and whether Xiaomi will be able to surpass Samsung, leading the European market with 35 percent market share.

In addition, Oppo also follows in the footsteps of Xiaomi, which has a 153 percent annual growth in Europe and 197 percent in Western Europe.

On the other hand, troubled by US sanctions, Huawei is still struggling with a negative growth rate of 81 percent in Europe.

It is still unclear what exactly contributed to Xiaomi’s sudden growth and whether it was Huawei’s sudden decline that the Chinese brand was able to use its advantage in the European region.
